It is on the north side, near the top of Frost Hill, visible from the road. Acer cissifolium is listed as USDA Hardiness Zone: 6. Mature height and width of Ivy-leaved Mape is 20 - 30 feet.

The petiolule of the terminal leaflet is generally 1 inch long, nearly twice the length of that of the lateral leaflets.
This photograph was taken in mid-May, 2004. The samaras are borne on slender racemes and will eventually be about 1 inch long. Although some were more developed than others, the insert in the top left shows some samara that were only about 1/4 inch on this particular day.
First year stems are reddish purple and highly pubescent, 2nd year stems are gray-brown.
Fall colors are red and yellow. Although some reliable sources say that good color is unlikely, the above picture shows the for this particular Ivy-leaved Maple the fall colors on October 30, 2001 were excellent.
Lateral buds of the Ivy-leaved Maple (Acer cissifolium) are reddish purple and only about 1/2 as long as terminal buds. The above photo was taken in mid-March 2001.
